Deeper Into Music is basically run by one person, me, Keith Weston (pictured). I’m the web master, the code debugger, the d.j., the music director you name it. And, I’m the one paying the bills at the end of each month.
Keeping a high quality internet radio station online is not a cheap endeavor. Let’s look at a typical month’s out-of-pocket costs:
Monthly recurring charges: (as of Feb 2010)
- Streaming server – $101.00/month
- Web Hosting -$15.00/month
- Licensing via Loudcity -$69.99/month
- Web Stream UK backup -$10.00/month
- Content Subscription Services (for various hard-to-find mp3s, etc.) -$20.00/month
Recurring charges monthly: ~$230.00
These recurring monthly charges do not include fees paid for new music services, home office expenses related to running Deeper Into Music, advertising and promotions and so on.
To cut the story short, donations help defray these costs. I would not be able to afford these expenses without your help.
