It could be a guilty pleasure or a widely-beloved chestnut or it could be brand new. What’s your all-time favorite album or song? I’d like to know your story behind your favorite. I hope you’ll share it with other Deeper Into Music listeners and blog readers.
For me, as I’ve written elsewhere on this blog, these days my all-time favorite song is “Islands” by King Crimson. I discovered this sweeping, lush song in college at WXYC and played it periodically when I did late-night shifts. There’s something so calming, relaxing, and elegant about it even though the performance is actually a little on the rough side. However, it still stops me in my tracks. It’s like a very warm blanket on a very cold night.
So, now, let’s hear about yours. Send a paragraph (or two or three) via email to dim@deeperintomusic.net detailing your favorite recording. Make sure to talk about why it affects you. Optionally, include your photo with your email and any contact information you’d like published here as well. Include at least your name and where you live. Perhaps you could mention how you discovered Deeper Into Music, too. I’ll periodically add submissions to this post as they come in.
If you prefer, you can simply add a comment to this post. (That will require you to log in to the blog, of course.) I hope you’ll enjoy thinking about your favorite songs and sharing it with others.
